On August 23, 2007, Ms. Iris L. Moore of New Orleans, Louisiana, was installed as the forty-first Imperial Commandress of the Imperial Court, Daughters of Isis in Charlotte, North Carolina. This was the culminating activity of the 96th Imperial Court Session of the Imperial Court, Daughters of Isis, auxiliary to the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine of North and South America and its Jurisdiction, Inc. Ms. Moore is the second New Orleanian to serve in this capacity in the 97-year history of the organization. The Imperial Court, Daughters of Isis is a charitable organization of over 11,000 members disbursed throughout the United States, Bahamas, Canada, Western Europe, and the Far East. Ms. Moore had served the Imperial Court as both an appointed and elected officer for over twenty-five (25) years. She also served as the Illustrious Commandress of Platta Court #114 in New Orleans. She was elected to the Imperial Court Divan (Board of Directors) in 1991 in Los Angeles, CA and now sixteen years later she has taken the reins to lead this prestigious organization through a two-year tenure. Ms. Moore is an active member of other Masonic organizations, a Past Matron of John G. Lewis #1, Order of Eastern Star and a member of New Orleans Assembly #1, Order of Golden Circle. She serves as the Grand Convention Director for Esther Grand Chapter, OES, Louisiana Jurisdiction, Prince Hall Affiliation and serves on the Board of Directors of the Camp Chicota Youth Fund. She is the Director of the Information Systems Division for the Naval Oceanographic at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. Ms Moore is an active member of Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church where she serves on the Board of the Women of Excellence Women’s Ministry. Ms. Moore was born, raised, and educated in Washington, D.C. having received a B.S. Degree in Mathematical Statistics, George Washington University, Washington, D.C. She has made New Orleans her home for the past 35 years and like so many others is in the process of rebuilding what Katrina destroyed. She is the mother of two, Kali K. and Damali T. Moore and the grandmother of Kayla Breanne Moore. |
